AI-Enabled Insurance Fraud: Emerging Threats, Detection & Investigation

Programme Highlights

Artificial Intelligence is changing both the nature and sophistication of insurance fraud. Generative AI can increasingly be used to create convincing documents, synthetic identities, manipulated photographs, fabricated evidence and deepfake audio or video, potentially making fraudulent activity more difficult to identify using traditional methods.

At the same time, insurers are deploying increasingly sophisticated analytics, anomaly detection, network analysis and AI-assisted investigation tools to identify suspicious activity more quickly and accurately. This course examines both dimensions of the evolving landscape—AI as an enabler of insurance fraud and AI as a powerful counter-fraud capability.

Participants will explore emerging AI-enabled fraud techniques and how technologies such as machine learning, graph analytics, fraud scoring, image and document verification and digital forensic tools can strengthen detection and investigation. The course will also consider how AI-enabled fraud controls can be incorporated into claims and underwriting processes while retaining appropriate investigator judgement and human oversight.

The session concludes by examining privacy, ethical, governance and regulatory considerations associated with AI-enabled fraud analytics and investigations, enabling participants to consider how their organisations can strengthen counter-fraud capabilities while maintaining fairness, accountability and customer trust.
