This course equips FA reps to understand estate-planning tools and insurance nomination mechanisms in Singapore, including wills, trusts, LPA, AMD, Section 73 CLPA, revocable nomination, irrevocable nomination and absolute assignment.

Learn how these tools affect financial advisory conversations, especially for family protection, liquidity planning, beneficiary planning, business-owner planning and vulnerable-dependant scenarios.

The AI component would focus on client profiling and estate-planning risk analysis.

Key Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the purpose and differences between wills, trusts, LPA and AMD at a practical advisory level.
  • Explain how insurance nominations and assignments affect policy proceeds and beneficiary outcomes.
  • Distinguish between Section 73 CLPA statutory trust, revocable nomination, irrevocable nomination and absolute assignment.
  • Identify estate-planning gaps in client profiles, such as minor children, blended families, business ownership, elderly parents, special-needs dependants or outstanding liabilities.
  • Recommend suitable planning conversations involving insurance, liquidity, nominations and professional referrals.
  • Use AI-assisted profiling to identify estate-planning risks while respecting confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Conduct a sensitive estate-planning conversation with appropriate boundaries.

Programme Leader

Koh Poo Kwee (PK), CLU®/S, ChFC®/S, CFP®

With over a decade of industry experience, Mr Koh is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®/S), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®/S), Chartered Accountant of Singapore (CA Singapore) and an accredited adult educator (ACLP). He currently serves as a lecturer, examiner, assessor, curriculum developer and textbook contributor with the Singapore College of Insurance, and has trained more than 1,000 financial consultants, delivered over 1,500 hours of professional training, and conducted numerous public financial education seminars.
