Collaborating Across Markets: London & Asia in the Emerging Risk Landscape

5 September 2025 | Organised by the Singapore College of Insurance (SCI), co-organised by the International Underwriting Association (IUA)

In a world where risks are becoming increasingly complex, interconnected, and unpredictable, collaboration across markets is no longer optional - it is essential. This half-day forum brought together leading voices from London and Asia to explore how our industries can work hand in hand to navigate emerging risks, from geopolitical volatility and AI liability to ESG exposures and climate change.

The discussions highlighted one powerful truth: navigating tomorrow’s risks requires not just technical expertise, but also innovation, knowledge-sharing, and cross-border collaboration.

Key Insights from the Sessions

  • Christopher Jones – Shared London’s perspective on emerging risks: protectionism, AI liability, ESG litigation, and man-made pollution - emphasising that innovation, modernisation, and digital transformation are critical to staying ahead.
  • Emma Loynes – Showcased how collaboration acts as a catalyst for resilience and growth, with talent development, data, and insurtech innovation driving opportunities and strengthening market connections.
  • Aaron Yip – Reflected on lessons from Asia’s specialty lines, illustrating how agility, adaptability, and a global risk mindset can fortify resilience in a complex and uncertain world.

Panel Discussion – A thought-provoking conversation moderated by Shalini Pavithran, reinforced that harmonised standards, strong communication, and shared learning are essential to bridging London and Asia’s approaches to emerging risks.

More than just dialogue, this forum exemplifies SCI’s mission of shaping the future of insurance professionals - equipping today’s practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives needed to thrive in an interconnected, risk-driven world.
